You may know someone who has cancer or you may just be moved to get involved with cancer research funding. In both cases there are so many ways to help those who are dealing with cancer a diagnoses and treatment. Some of the things that you can do are get involved with fund raisers, volunteer, and become an in home care helper.
Fund raising is a very important part of helping with cancer research and treatment. Everyday there are thousands of events that help to raise money for cancer research. There are races that include both walking and running that help to raise money. If you are interested in walking or running for a cure, not only are you helping to raise money for a very good cause but you are staying in shape as well. Walks and runs for research are really a win-win. If you are unable to enter a walk or run you could also make a donation to a cancer research fund. By making a donation you are ensuring that more research is being done to cure cancer and that more people are being helped.
There are also other options that allow you to meet and work with people who are undergoing cancer treatment. Almost all hospitals have a volunteer program where you can work with cancer patients. Cancer patients are often sick and lethargic and are unable to perform the tasks that they normally would be able to do. You could enter a program where you are able to help them do some of their daily tasks. For example you could help someone get groceries, clean their home, go get to a doctor’s appointment. When working with younger children, you would be helping to make sure that their life is as normal as possible, even though they have cancer. You would be playing and interacting with children and making sure that they have fun.
